ABOUT BAKER STREET MYSTERY

Baker Street Mystery is an immersive entertainment company specializing in interactive murder mystery parties and events. Instead of watching actors perform, guests play the characters, uncover secrets, and work together to solve a murder.

We offer:

  • Public ticketed mystery events – We partner with venues, restaurants, hotels, wineries and more for scheduled experiences open to the public and hosted at partner venues throughout the greater San Antonio area. Guests purchase individual tickets and are assigned roles, making them perfect for venues looking to offer something unique to their guests.
  • Private murder mystery parties: are booked exclusively for your group and can be hosted at a venue of your choice, including homes, offices, or restaurants. These experiences are ideal for birthdays, celebrations, and social gatherings, with the same interactive, player-driven gameplay as our public events.
  • Corporate and team-building mystery experiences: use interactive storytelling to encourage collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. Teams work together to uncover clues, share information, and solve the mystery in a fun, low-pressure environment designed for connection.
  • Each event is guided by a professional host and designed to be social, engaging, and player-driven.

At Baker Street Mystery, you don’t just watch—you are the story. There are no actors. It isn’t just a select few guests picked out of the crowd to participate. Instead, every guest is assigned a character with backstory, motivations, and secret objectives. Your group drives the narrative through improvised interaction, not scripts or staged performances—unlike the companies who rely on professional actors to guide events

While their formats can be exciting, guests are often secondary observers. The Baker Street Mystery format encourages spontaneous interaction and player-driven discovery.

TLDR: Unlike traditional murder mystery shows or boxed kits:

AGE, CONTENT & COMFORT LEVEL

Our mysteries are set up in a way in which roles accommodate different comfort levels. By providing clear objectives we give each guests the flexibility to take a more reserved approach or to fully-embrace their character. Guests receive clear character guides, objectives, and host support.

While some themes may only be appropriate for 14+, most of our events are family-friendly with parent guidance. Some themes might reference: alcohol, drugs, tobacco, affairs, or prostitution. Individual theme pages provide content guides.

CORPORATE & TEAM BUILDING

Absolutely. We specialize in team-building murder mysteries, perfect for creating shared goals, dialogue, and strategy. Compared to other murder mystery companies, Baker Street Mystery takes an immersive approach, emphasizing authentic guest interaction and collaborative problem-solving.

Yes! Our virtual-ready format works via Zoom, Teams, or custom platforms—ideal for hybrid teams or long-distance get-togethers. The format remains guest-driven, even when screen-based.

Basic themes are included in our pricing. Custom or branded themes—such as corporate storylines or event-specific backstories—may incur additional design fees, but cost significantly less than fully actor-driven customization.

COSTUMES, PREP & PARTICIPATION

Characters are provided digitally or in person, depending on the event format.

If chosen, private event attendees can be emailed their characters, backstories, and goals ahead of time. Most public event participants receive assignments onsite.

Themed attire is encouraged and helps immersion but is optional. Themes range from 1920s speakeasy to supernatural seance or winery mystery—costume inspiration guides are provided to help participants prepare. Guests may dress comfortably or lean into the theme for fun.

EVENT TYPES & FORMATS

Our stories are licensed to use for private and public events, which means that you don’t have to worry about the legal issues surrounding commercial licenses, which is vital if you are selling tickets.

By using Baker Street Mystery for a private event, that means you don’t have to worry about sending information, coordinating the evening, and you can enjoy the event–spoiler free.

For most parties, we need a minimum of 20 participants, but can accommodate up to 100 or more, depending on venue and setup. For smaller groups, we have a selection of micro-themes that can run with as little as 8 guests.

Since we use licenses to sell tickets, we only provide a fully-hosted experience. This ensures that you receive a high-quality, immersive murder mystery event, complete with all the necessary materials, guidance, and support for a memorable experience.

FOOD, DRINKS & VENUES

Food and drinks are provided by the hosting venue, and will differ per event. Baker Street Mystery runs the experience itself. We can recommend catering and private chef options that we have worked with in the past

HOW THE MURDER MYSTERIES WORK

Guests receive a character with a backstory, secrets, and private objectives. Throughout the event, guests mingle, share information, negotiate alliances, exchange evidence, and uncover clues. The mystery unfolds based on player interaction, not a fixed script.

Expect a themed, character-driven evening where you step into a role—detective, suspect, or someone with hidden motives. Through conversation, investigation, and use of gameplay tools like clue sheets or “money,” guests collaborate to solve the mystery. No acting experience is required—just a spirit of engagement and curiosity.

No, there are no actors. Unlike other companies, Baker Street Mystery experiences rely entirely on participant-driven storytelling, creating unpredictable and fun dynamics.Your guests are the suspects, investigators, and secret-keepers. A Baker Street Mystery host guides the experience and keeps the story moving.

You don’t need acting experience to participate. Guests receive clear character guides, objectives, and host support. Acting in character is optional. Some guests lean into roleplay, while others focus on strategy, deduction, and conversation. The experience works at any comfort level.

Our parties are designed to be intuitive and welcoming—even for first‑timers. Many competitors also offer “interactive” events, but theirs often still feature central actors to manage pace and plot. We trust the group to carry the narrative, supported by materials and structure—not scripts.

Very interactive. Guests are encouraged to talk, move around, trade information, form alliances, accuse suspects, and pursue objectives. This is not a passive show, all guests are active participants in the story.

Our public murder mystery parties usually last 2 hours. Smaller parties with less than 20 guests typically last an hour and a half. For private events we can adjust the duration to fit your needs.

LOCATIONS & SERVICE AREA

We host events throughout San Antonio, Texas, and surrounding areas, often in partnership with local venues such as restaurants, bars, and event spaces.

Private murder mystery parties can be hosted at homes, offices, restaurants, or other approved venues.

Yes. Travel outside the San Antonio area may be available for private and public events depending on location and availability. We currently host events regularly from Fredericksburg to Wimberley.

PRICING, TICKETS & BOOKING

Baker Street Mystery offers per-attendee pricing for our murder mystery parties. The cost start as little as $300.

Public ticket prices are listed on the appropriate event or booking pages.

Because we don’t include professional actors or staged performances, our format relies on a single host and guest-led roleplay and immersion, reducing labor costs while still offering a highly engaging and personalized mystery experience.

The cost of the murder mystery includes a fully-hosted 1.5 – 2 hour event. Our hosts will facilitate the event, engage with guests and ultimately deliver the solution. Each guest will receive individual character packets, objectives and clue sheets.

Not included: Venue, catering, and any extras like printed décor or rentals.
