You’ll be assigned a character with a background, motivations, and objectives, allowing you to actively participate and shape the outcome of the mystery.

I’ve never been, what can I expect?

At a murder mystery party, expect an immersive experience where you’ll step into a character’s shoes. As a participant, you’ll be assigned a character with a background, motivations, and objectives to complete.You’ll interact with other participants, uncover clues, and work together to solve a fictional murder mystery. 

No prior experience is necessary, and it’s a perfect opportunity to embrace your inner detective. Prepare for an engaging evening filled with intrigue, collaboration, and memorable moments as you unravel the secrets and try to uncover the truth behind the crime.

Are there actors?

Participants are assigned characters to play. This interactive approach allows attendees to fully immerse themselves in the experience and engage with other participants as they work together to solve the murder. The involvement creates a dynamic and engaging atmosphere throughout the event.

No acting experience is necessary. Our murder mystery parties are designed for everyone, regardless of their acting abilities. Just come with a willingness to immerse yourself in the character and have fun.

How do I dress?

Dressing according to the theme is encouraged, but not mandatory. We recommend wearing something comfortable and appropriate for the event, as it adds to the overall ambiance and fun.

How long does a party last?

Our public murder mystery parties usually last between 1.5 to 2 hours. For private events we can adjust the duration to fit your needs.

Are there prizes?

At the end of the event, there may be opportunities to win prizes in various categories, such as Most In Character, Most Money, Best Dressed, or Most Accurate Investigation. The specific prize categories and details will be announced during the event.

Can I take photos during the murder mystery party?

Yes! Feel free to capture memorable moments and take photos during the event. We even provide a backdrop at some events specifically for taking selfies and group pictures — make sure to tag us @bakerstreetmystery

Private event questions

What themes are available?

We offer a variety of themes with different characters. Some popular themes include 1920 Juice Joint, Trailer Park Trash, and Murder at the Winery. Each theme requires a minimum of 20 people, but can accommodate up to 100 participants.

How many people are required to host a murder mystery party?

We recommend a minimum of 20 participants for a murder mystery party, but it can accommodate up to 100 people

Can participants receive character information in advance?

For private parties, we can collect attendees’ email addresses and send out character information before the event.

For public events, characters are assigned at the time of the party. Participants can come dressed to the theme.

Do you provide additional services or add-ons?

We promote public events on our social media channels and website calendar. We have a small collection of props, a backdrop for selfies, and audio equipment available if needed.

Are there any specific logistical requirements?

For private events we do not provide the venue or food for the event. However, we can recommend locations and caterers we have worked with in the past. Please consider parking availability and any technical requirements for audio equipment, if needed.

How far in advance should I book a murder mystery party?

For private parties, it’s advisable to book 3-4 weeks ahead to allow time for character information distribution.

How much does it cost?

Our party price ranges based upon location and minimum number attendees, but typically are around $20 per person.
